Kalanoro

Original music for the game, apart from tracks by guest artists.

Red Raketa Studio · Published by New Tales

Rindra Ramili composed the original music for Kalanoro, apart from tracks by guest artists. Developed by Red Raketa Studio and published by New Tales, the game draws on Malagasy folklore.

A score that follows the player

The music follows the changes in action and pace. Layers enter and leave, sequences extend, transitions bridge one moment of play to the next. The writing has to hold together whenever the player changes direction.

The colours of Madagascar

The score sets the orchestra alongside Malagasy instruments and rhythms. Valiha, marovany, kabosy and percussion bring their timbres, played or sampled. The rhythms come from across the island: salegy, hira gasy, tsapiky, basesa. Elsewhere that colour comes through the melodies and the orchestral writing itself.
